Japan Trip Day 2

Japan Trip Day 2 - Tokyo Disneyland
(19-10-2008)

Tokyo Disneyland
was the first Disney park to be built outside of the United States and was opened on 15 April 1983.
The park was constructed by Walt Disney Imagineering in the same style as Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida. It is owned by the Oriental Land Company, which licenses the theme from the Walt Disney Company. It, along with its companion park, Tokyo DisneySea, are the only Disney parks not owned by The Walt Disney Company.

There are seven themed areas, each complementing each other yet unique in their style. Made up of the World Bazaar, the four classic Disney lands: Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, and two mini lands, Critter Country and Mickey's Toontown the park is noted for its huge open spaces to accommodate the massive crowds the park receives on even moderate attendance days. In 2007, Tokyo Disneyland hosted approximately 13.9 million guests, ranking it as the third-most visited theme park in the world, behind its American sister parks, the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland.

Tokyo Disneyland began celebrating the 25th Anniversary of its grand opening in April 2008, with special events, entertainment and merchandise expected to continue into next year.

After our breakfast in Hotel, we headed to Tokyo Disneyland!

Stepping into Tokyo Disneyland..

The floral bed at the entrance to the park has been replanted to form the numbers “25” and a sculpture of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck and Pluto, the Fab Five has been erected as a photo opportunity for guests.

We begin by the entrance of Tokyo Disneyland and the World Bazaar Halloween decorations. Tokyo Disneyland is the first ever Disneyland to be built outside of the United States. It’s even older than me, opened on 15th April 1983.

We were greeted by the famous Disney characters once entered Disneyland.

Photos taken while we are queueing up to take photos of Mickey.

Mickey wasn’t difficult to spot at all. There was a freakishly long queue easily visible next to him so visitors can get his signature and photo taken. Although Mickey is just a fictitious character created by Mr. Disney, it has accompanied millions of children through their childhood. It is probably the most popular cartoon character ever.

We never had a chance to take a photo with Minnie due to long queue.

World Bazaar usually has several vendors out at one time, selling different types of balloons. It come in a different variety of shapes and feature. There have not just Mickey Mouse but many of the major Disney characters.

After so much of trying, we finally got this Minnie headband! You wont look silly wearing it because most of the people over there did the same. Therefore i decided to join in the fun!

Performance going on at the World Bazzar.

Beyond the third entrance is the World Bazaar, where you find all the themed shops and restaurants clustered.

It was a very common sight to see neatly arranged prams all over the Disneyland.

Enjoying my Mickey Mouse orange bar.

Getting ready for the 4D magix.

Disney Rides.

Beautiful flowers.

Toon Town.

There are quite a number of parades in a day.

This colorful counter-service restaurant, built from salvaged items of an old clipper ship, is a popular stop along the trade route. A selection of noodles dishes, Asian side dishes and desserts can be enjoyed here.

Tokyo Disneyland is filled with special decorations and activities for Disney's Halloween. The park holds fun Halloween events from September 12 to October 31 this year. It was so much fun to see Disneyland getting into the Halloween spirit.

The Tiki Room

Last photos before we leave Tokyo Disneyland.

It was indeed a very enjoyable day for us.

On board the bus, on our way back to hotel.

We had chinese Cuisine which consists of 6 main dish and 1 soup for our dinner.

Sunshine City Tokyu Hands.

The building was lit up in blue.

Pachinko is a gambling game that is played all over Japan from Tokyo to the many rural areas. It is extremely popular and is often described as Japanese pinball where a steel ball drops through a series of metal pins. They are gaming machines where if you win more steel balls, and "spend" the balls on prizes.

大黑屋

The regular Sanrio Gift Gate which carry the full line of Sanrio products.

This is the big brother of Takopachi! It is around the same size as an apple and it comes with many other different types of favours as well.

Browsing through the Halloween products

Ice cream UFO catcher

This umbrella garage in the lobby of the hotel we stayed. It is a genius invention. You can lock your umbrella safely in place and you don’t have a soggy umbrella leaving wet spots on the floor in your room.
